(Download Prisoners) It is the worst nightmare for parents, if your child is abducted. For Keller Dover ( Hugh Jackman ) is this nagging reality nightmare when his daughter disappears without a trace on Thanksgiving. Suspicion quickly falls on the mentally retarded Alex Jones ( Paul Dano ), whose car was seen at the time the deed in Dover neighborhood. Presumed Innocent to police investigators Loki (see Jake Gyllenhaal ), however, forced to let the suspect free. Dover is outraged and decides to take the law into their own hands. Together with his best friend, whose daughter was also kidnapped, he preys on the criminal.
 
The title of the thriller "Prisoners" is the program. The design captivity runs like a Leitfanden by the action. The director is not only about classical motifs such as vengeance and vigilante justice, but he asks about the limits of human behavior, when life must be weighed against other life.
(Download Prisoners) “Be ready,” Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) advises his son as they return from a Thanksgiving morning deer hunt. His own father said the same to him, and the God-fearing Keller has followed it to a T since. However, all the emergency supplies in the basement fail to prepare Keller or wife Grace (Maria Bello) for the abduction of their daughter and the equally young daughter of Franklin and Nancy Birch (Terrence Howard and Viola Davis) from somewhere between their respective homes in suburban Pennsylvania. The only lead left for Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) (Download Prisoners) to pursue is the nearby appearance of a shady RV, driven by simple-minded local Alex Jones (Paul Dano). Without a lick of physical evidence, Loki finds himself unable to hold Alex in custody, and so a distraught Keller decides to take matters into his own hands.
(Download Prisoners) If you’ve already seen the trailers for “Prisoners,” then you probably have a fair idea of where things go from here, but you may not anticipate the precise control that both director Denis Villeneuve (“Incendies”) and writer Aaron Guzikowski (“Contraband”) bring to a potentially routine procedural. Few modern thrillers aim to engage an adult audience first and foremost, and fewer still concern themselves with weighty moral dilemmas while unfolding their mysteries at a deliberate pace (the film runs nearly 150 minutes and hardly feels as such).

Prisoners
Even if “Prisoners” doesn’t pack quite the same punch as either Ben Affleck’s great “Gone Baby Gone” or upcoming Israeli import “Big Bad Wolves,” it certainly follows well enough in their bleak, (Download Prisoners) taut footsteps.
(Download Prisoners) The title, of course, harbors many interpretations: the literally trapped girls and suspects, Keller’s inability to protect his kin, Loki’s frustration with a dead-end case (he’s cracked every other one to date), the wives stricken by grief (a touch that all but sidelines Bello and Davis). All of this angst is complemented well by Jóhann Jóhannsson’s foreboding score and captured starkly by Roger Deakins’ cinematography, itself casting a worthy winter’s chill over the proceedings as each character is pushed to physical and emotional extremes.(Download Prisoners) Jackman and Gyllenhaal serve as two sides of the same coin, with the former delivering a positively feral performance while the latter conveys the more oppressed frustrations of being hamstrung by due process and dwindling clues. Although Dano often seems to be serving up a variation on the same sniveling performance, his work as Alex walks a fine line between a general guilelessness and more sinister gestures, with his aunt (an aged-up Melissa Leo) serving as his sole defender.
(Download Prisoners) Villeneuve and Guzikowski aren’t necessarily immune to every crime-thriller convention: the requisite red herring is immediately transparent, while some breathless exposition in the second act is needed to thrust us into the home stretch.

Prisoners Movie
Still, rarely a moment is ever wasted, a consequence ignored, and though the climax is a corker, the final shot is even better. “Prisoners” requires and rewards your attention in equal measure. Be ready.
(Download Prisoners) Denis Villeneuve comes to America with Prisoners, an alternately strange and gripping but finally self-immolating crime picture that earns the right to its austere silver Warner Bros. logo before it devolves into a Scooby-Doo mystery for sadists. Last seen beckoned to the heavens by a pre-Oscar-anointed Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman plunges right back into the shit here as Keller Dover, a suburban dad and mild-mannered carpenter who goes berserk when his daughter and her friend (the child of perennially underused Viola Davis and Terrence Howard) vanish after Thanksgiving dinner. The first suspect is Alex (Paul Dano),(Download Prisoners) a creepy, developmentally delayed young man who roams through the neighbourhood in his RV. Though he's arrested by crack detective Loki (nicely played by Jake Gyllenhaal, despite his character's name and distressingly shoddy police work) and released when the investigators find nothing to pin him on, Alex is promptly recaptured by a raging Dover, who turns out to have his own torture venue for this very occasion, complete with room enough for a black box whose construction will put Dover's woodworking skills to good use.

Prisoners Review
(Download Prisoners) It's hard to say where exactly Prisoners goes wrong, though Dover's dubious reason for kidnapping Alex when Loki is in hot pursuit of a more credible suspect turns out to be an ominous hint of the irrational behaviour to come. Shot through grimy windows and near-constant rainfall, this is, thanks to Roger Deakins, surely the most beautifully-lensed and smartly-composed thriller to come down the pike since Zodiac; Deakins could easily get a co-director credit. The procedural terror of the early moments, as Loki sets about finding his man or woman before time runs out, is also strong stuff, not as precise as David Fincher's depiction of data-mining crime scenes, but about as absorbing.
(Download Prisoners) Too bad, then, about Aaron Guzikowski's sloppy script, which loses track of key characters for long stretches--Loki seems to be breaking the fourth wall when he complains to his superior that he needs to know where everyone is, damnit--and throws out increasingly outlandish plot complications as it struggles to solve its own mystery, from a runaway gun to a casket full of snakes. Neither of these developments has anything to do with the torture alley Villeneuve initially walks us down, making the last act's hopeless attempts to circle back to the poor boy in the box and say something grand about cycles of abuse a little insulting. Although you could blame this insincere showboating on Guzikowski, the howlingly bad justification the real kidnapper gives for the grand scheme feels like vintage Villeneuve: a so-smart-it's-stupid reveal to match the twist that one and one might just might make one in Incendies, (Watch Prisoners Online) which ended in a po-faced rendition of "I Am My Own Grandpa."
